Nestling in the rolling hills of Dorset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a minute's walk from the World Heritage Jurassic Coast at Seatown and the South West Coast Path.
Our family home was recently refurbished and offers four modern ensuite double rooms with stunning views, including Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast.
Roaming free range chickens provide the freshest eggs for our Dorset farmers’ breakfast. There are 3 excellent pubs within 15 minutes' walk of Willowhayne in Chideock and Seatown and acclaimed restaurants just a short drive away.
Our comfortable bed and breakast is perfect for a quiet stay in the countryside. Willowhayne’s peaceful location, surrounded by open fields, appeals to wildlife lovers, ramblers and foodies all year round. With many historic houses close-by, our B&B is also perfect for people interested in history and culture.
Willowhayne takes its name from the willow trees surrounding the lake in the garden and hayne, anglosaxon name for enclosure. The farmhouse was built in 1901 for the manager of Doghouse Farm, a large dairy farm until the 1980’s when Howard and Geraldine bought it. A family home until the children left the nest, the traditional farmhouse was renovated in 2009 providing homely and modern accommodation throughout.
Breakfast is taken around the farmhouse table, cooked with the farm’s fresh eggs and delicious local produce. Howard and Geraldine are happy to cater for special dietary needs (with prior notice please). A sociable way to start the day.
There is a small library with information on the local attractions in the guest lounge, complete with comfortable sofas and an open fire. Howard and Geraldine are always available to share their knowledge of the local area and recommend excursions, restaurants or lesser known gems close to the B&B.
The superb location near to Chideock is complemented by wonderful views from all the rooms and the garden. Ample parking is available.
There is a deep water lake in the garden and, for this reason, no young children are able to stay at Willowhayne.
All the rooms, named after Howard and Geraldine’s children (now grown up!), have superb panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, modern and spacious ensuite shower rooms, comfortable mattresses, digital flatscreen televisions with freeview and radio as well as tea and coffee making facilities.
Graham’s Room (kingsize bed) overlooks Frogmore Hill to the east and the farm’s roaming chickens (as well as the odd fox... not so welcomed by the hens!)
Jonathan’s Room (twin beds) faces west towards the Golden Cap estate with sea glimpses of Seatown.
Robert’s Room (double bed) enjoys stunning views of Golden Cap estate and has fabulous sunsets.
Thorncombe Room (kingsize bed) overlooks Thorncombe Beacon and Coast Path.
There is a fridge for guests’ use with cold drinks and fresh milk on the landing (no little pots of UHT milk). An iron and ironing board are available, as is a large basket of toiletries, in case you have forgotten something.
