Vale of Glamorgan Accommodation and Holiday Guide

Introduction

The Vale of Glamorgan and The Heritage Coast home to seaside towns such as Porthcawl, with its excellent surfing beach at Rest bay, a long sandy beach that leads to the sand dunes at Kenfig and on to the nature reserve at Kenfig Pool. Penarth is the closest seaside resort to Cardiff and is a charming place to stay if a looking for somewhere a little quieter than the capital city.

Access into Cardiff Bay is easy as it’s just a short stroll over the barrage. The Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the UK, provides trips from both Porthcawl and Penarth and is a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend time. Llantwit Major was the site of St Illtud’s monastery, where he educated amongst others, the patron saint of Wales; St David, and the patron saint of Ireland; St Patrick, who was also Welsh! The market town of Cowbridge is also a very pleasant place to stay offering lots of great places to eat and some excellent shopping in the upmarket shops.
