The Rondo Theatre
...from rehearsal studio to one of Britains busiest and most atmospheric small theatres.
Quality productions in an informal setting which gives the feeling of belonging to a special club. Come and enjoy high class shows from established companies, returning groups and also new talent both amateur and professional in the relaxed and unique Rondo Theatre.
In 1976 Doreen and Wilf Williams bought the building from St Saviours Church to turn into a concert venue and a local community centre. Then in 1989 they generously gifted the freehold to the charity The Rondo Trust and the beginnings of the Theatre were born.
With lottery grants in 1996 and 2003 the Trust was able to install dressing rooms, a foyer, offices and state of the art lighting equipment which all go together to provide the beautiful setting of the Theatre.
The Theatre offers 105 seats along with a bar adjacent to the auditorium so that you can drink whilst you watch the shows and a wide and varied program of events throughout the year. Each year nearly 80 different companies visit which gives a wonderful program of theatre, music and performance. The affordable hire rates make The Rondo a venue accessible to all.
There is the Youth Theatre for the young ones, Theatre Workshops where you can learn the trade and The Rondo Writers Group to develop those ideas, as well as a full list of shows and events to entertain and amaze.
As the Theatre is run by a Trust it relies on donations but is also supported by Bath and North East Somerset Council.
The Theatre has a show or event most weeks on Wednesdays or Thursdays through to Saturday. Check the website for the latest listings.
