The Old Rectory is situated in an enviably, beautiful location in the picturesque village of Maentwrog, in Gwynedd, North Wales. The hotel is located within the Snowdonia National park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. This is an attractive and unique property, set amongst spectacular scenery in North Wales.

The Old Rectory, not only a beautiful and elegant grade 2 listed home, but also a Country House guest house with a self-catering static mobile home in a secluded area of the 3 acre gardens.

The property has 4 spacious letting bedrooms, with up-dated en-suite bathrooms. There is also a large dining room and large drawing room for guests. The property also includes private owners' accommodation with a private sitting-room.

In the Stables Annex, there are a further 5 double and twin rooms and 2 double family bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities.

The seasonal cream teas with home-made cakes and gateaux are served in the gardens and on the terrace, and are both renowned and popular. The 3 acre garden is bordered by the Salmon and trout River Dwyryd, on which the guest house has fishing rights.

The locality is extremely popular with tourists all year round, and is in close proximity to the famous Portmeirion Italianate Village, the Ffestiniog Railway, Harlech, Caernarfon, Conwy, Dolwyddelan and Penrhyn Castles, miles of sandy beaches, walking, riding, golf and many other attractions. Maentwrog is just minutes from Porthmadog, with major A road connections to Caernarfon, Bangor and Llandudno junction. There are also trains from Porthmadog to Llandudno junction. From Llanduno Junction, Chester is only 30 minutes away, and London is just 3 hours.

History of The Old Rectory
The Old Rectory is built of locally quarried slate, featuring unusual flying buttress chimneys. The property was originally The Dower House, then the Stewards Lodge, for the huge slate quarry/land owners of Plas Tun u Butch, being enlarged to the present size in 1840, when it was bequeathed to the Ffestiniog Parish as the Rectory for Maentwrog Church.
