Welcome to The Old Bakery, a Fabulous 5 Star Silver Award Bed and Breakfast in Pulham Market, Norfolk
A Warm Welcome Awaits You
Come and stay at The Old Bakery in the beautiful South Norfolk countryside. You‘ll find us in the Waveney Valley village of Pulham Market, just 10 minutes away from the country market towns of Diss and Harleston. Pulham Market is a small but perfectly formed, quintessentially Norfolk village, with traditional Village Green, charming period cottages, thatched roofs, two village pubs serving good food and stunning scenery.
The perfect location for a short break with beautiful countryside on the doorstep, plenty to do nearby and the lively city of Norwich with an abundance of live entertainment venues, historic architecture and excellent shopping a short drive away.
Easy to get to, we‘re just and hour and 40 minutes from J28 of the M25 and the same travel time takes you from the mainline station at Diss to London Liverpool Street.
The Old Bakery is a delightful listed building, with wattle and daub walls and a timber frame, exposed internal beams and bags of character. Dating from 1580, The Old Bakery was established in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I as the main bakery for the Pulhams, although the last baker retired in 1951. The building has been in continuous use for more than 400 years, as a bakery, a restaurant and now as a bed and breakfast.
We have three spacious bedrooms, private parking for guests, and a delightful garden complete with Garden Room. The large, comfortable lounge with exposed beams is warm and cosy in winter and a cool haven in summer. We welcome families with children aged 10 and over.
Looking For A Special Occasion Treat?
We make every stay at The Old Bakery special but if you‘re planning your visit to celebrate a special occasion or as a surprise for a loved one why not make it extra special with a bottle of champagne, flowers or chocolates waiting when you arrive. Maybe add a pampering session at nearby Wood Farm Complementary Therapy and Healing Centre or a driving experience at Lotus Cars - guaranteed to get the adrenaline pumping. In fact if there‘s anything we can do to make your visit extra special just ask, we‘ll always try to help.
We‘re happy to make recommendations for a special meal and to book tables in advance - always advisable as some of the best local places get booked up early.
