The Dairy...luxury cottage for 2 people

This has often been described by our guests as being a ‘second honeymoon cottage – indeed we have already had several couples having their first honeymoon here after having previously experienced and enjoyed an earlier stay here.

The cottage has an extremely spacious lounge (20 feet by 20 feet) rising to the rafters , the focal point being a log burner on a stone-plinth in the middle of the room. The floor consists of polished stone flags, made more comfortable by the laying of quality rugs

The tastefully co-ordinated furniture and furnishings, including a leather Chesterfield suite and Irish dresser are of a high standard. Most of the crockery is China and some of the glasses are crystal.

Overlooking the lounge is a galleried bedroom, with polished wooden floors, the stain for which contrast well with the darker stained open tread staircase.

The spacious quality bathroom with Italian floor tiles, is large enough to enable us to provide a five piece suite (i.e. separate shower cubicle to the bath and a bidet)

The kitchen has been newly re-fitted this year with solid wood units, gloss work-tops, real stone granite sink and an electric halogen cooker (giving near instantaneous heat response)

There is a private patio area in front of the cottage with superb views not dissimilar to that shown on the ariel photograph above.

The Location
At the gable end of this cottage and its two neighbouring cottages is a designated parking area, next to which is a substantial lawned area etc

On the other side is a substantial lawned area for the exclusive use of our guests.

On the other side of this is a squeeze stile leading to a field with superb views over Biggin Dale, which wends its way around the cottages.

The cottages are at the end of a 350 yard long drive, on either side of which is a wild flower meadow, one of which forms part of a larger nature reserve managed by English Nature.

This nature reserve runs through Biggin Dale and after one and a half miles it reaches the famous River Dove near the meeting point of Wolfscotedale and Beresford Dale (famous for the fishing temple where The Compleat Angler was written).

The walk down Wolfscotedale beside the River Dove along an excellent path leads you to after a little over one mile to Dovedale.

Four hundred yards from the end of the drive serving the cottages lane is the village of Biggin, and its larger neighbouring village Hartington, which is extremely popular, being the start of many walks, ducks ponds, a Jacobean Hall and much more, is just one mile away.

Both villages have pubs serving full meals, tea-shops and also each village has a church. There is also a restaurant also about a mile away.

Numerous footpaths and bridleways surround the land on which the cottages stand, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles , is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is less than 1 mile from us.

Two further trails, the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Valley Trail (both of similar distance), are within 3 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling as is the network of quiet minor roads which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails.

The cottages are situated roughly in the middle of that part of the Peak District known as the White Peak. This is the area of rolling countryside, dales, streams and rivers limestone villages and dry-stone walls, which give the area so much character.

Buxton, Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek and Chatsworth House are all about 11 miles away at different points on the compass
