Sunday lunch at Rowley's Baslow

Excellent restaurant near Chatsworth

Popular spin-off to Fischer's Michelin starred restaurant at nearby Baslow Hall. Sunday lunch served noon until 3pm.

2 courses £19.50 or 3 courses for £23.50. Our recent visit began with a pint of local guest beer (for me anyway) and was followed by 3 courses each.

Starters: Char-grilled asparagus with crushed hen's egg (poor hen!), blue cheese, pear & walnut salad with a red-wine jus - both excellent. Mains: Locally sourced beef served pink - mine was first class but my wife's beef serving was less than generous, too thinly cut and therefore overcooked.  Desserts: White chocolate pannacotta with cherries and pistachio ice-cream, banana and butterscotch trifle - again both excellent.

Friendly service, parking, relaxed atmosphere - in our experience Rowley's is always good but, on this occasion, was regrettably let down by one of the beef dinners. However, please give it the benefit of the doubt and let us know how you get on?

Sunday lite bites also available 12 - 2.30 downstairs bar. Bar open until 6pm.
