Sheldon Video of the village of Sheldon near Bakewell

Video of the former lead mining village of Sheldon near Bakewell

The linear and very attractive village of Sheldon near Bakewell in the Peak District was once home to the lead miners at nearby Magpie Mine before its closure in 1924. The village, once 'dry', now boasts the excellent Cock & Pullet which is featured in the film and which was one of the first pubs in the area to have the foresight to open all day every day for drinks.

Standing at 1000 feet above sea-level Sheldon sits atop the White Peak plateau ands commands far-reaching views across to Longstone Edge and beyond. In the depths of Winter you might need to bring a scarf!

We hope you like our all-new Sheldon Video - enjoy! Please visit the village as soon as you can!
