Royal Lytham and St Annes

Introduction

The Royal Lytham & St Annes golf course is one of the premier links courses in the world, host to ten Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments including the Women's and Seniors Open Championships.

Royal Lytham & St. Annes will be host to the 2012 Open Championship. It is a links course that is a long way from the sea yet close enough for the sea breeze to have an effect on one's game and was aptly described by Bernard Darwin, the leading golf writer of the thirties, as 'a beast of a course, but a just beast'. With over 200 bunkers peppering the fairways, it may not be the longest of courses but it is one where careful thought and accurate shots are required.
