Relentless Boardmasters 2012
...festival blending music, surf & skate
The UK’s largest surf, skate and music festival returns in 2012 with a line-up that promises to be the country’s top sport and music combo festival once again.
Relentless Boardmasters takes place between August 8th – 12th 2012, across three sites in Newquay, each offering action sports including surfing, skate, BMX action, plus of course a daily line-up of live music acts. The festival attracts both hardened festival goers and also those already here enjoying their holidays in Cornwall.
Men’s surfing has been upgraded to a 6 star ASP World Surfing Series – just one star shy of becoming an absolute premier surfing event. 3 star men’s and ladies longboard competitions have also been introduced to an already packed schedule.
A change of date also means the event no longer clashes with other high profile events across the globe.
The event gets underway on Wednesday 8th August at the Fistral Site with the opening party and the first Beach Session. The trade village including the Beach Bar opens the next day until the festival’s close on the Sunday.
Ten stages of live music, hosting over 100 bands, provide the sounds and the line-up this year is another stellar one.
Man of the moment and double Brit Award-winning Ed Sheeran and chart topper Dizzee Rascal headline the 2012 festival, with more than able support coming from the likes of Maximo Park, Maverick Sabre and The Ting Tings.
Relentless Boardmasters organisers must be getting used to attracting the biggest stars.
The main stage in 2011 was headlined by none other than big beats maestro Fatboy Slim, Bombay Bicycle Club and Mercury Music Prize winners The Klaxons. Other highlights include New York troubadour Willy Mason, 90s favourites Stereo MCs, Camden songstress Eliza Doolittle and multi-award winning DJ trio Scratch Perverts.
BBC Radio One DJ and indie king Zane Lowe was also spinning tunes on the main stage.
An adult weekend ticket for both days in 2011 was priced at £65, and £85 with camping included. Adult day tickets for Friday or Saturday were priced at £36. An adult Beach sessions ticket is priced at £15 for any one day. 2012 prices will be announced soon.
