Plum Tree Cottage is a Grade II listed, late 18th century, stone cottage situated within the secluded conservation area of Herston, Swanage.
The detached cottage was formerly two workmen's cottages, which were combined and sympathetically restored ten years ago. Plum Tree Cottage now provides comfortable 4 star self-catering holiday accommodation all year round for up to eight people. Children and dogs are welcome and there is a large enclosed garden where they can play safely.
PlumTree Cottage is ideally situated for your holiday, being close to beautiful open countryside and a short 15 minute walk from the heart of Swanage with its beach, shops, restaurants, pubs, pier, museum and other attractions.
Apart from its great location for visiting the area, Plum Tree Cottage also provides a comfortable home away from home, with a wide selection of books, TV, DVDs and games available for less sunny days.
Built over 200 years ago of Purbeck stone, Plum Tree Cottage is full of charm and character, and retains many of its original features. The accommodation comprises two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, three bathrooms/shower rooms, a spacious lounge and separate dining room, a conservatory and a fully fitted kitchen overlooking the beautiful enclosed garden.
The cottage has central heating throughout in addition to the wood burning stove located in the lounge. It is comfortably furnished and equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, Digital TV with DVD/CD player and radio. Utilities, bedding and towels are included in the hire. There is off road parking and secure cycle storage.
Plum Tree Cottage is conveniently located for other amenities to help you have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. If you are exhausted from your day out and don't feel like cooking, there are a selection of places to eat virtually on the doorstep.
At the bottom of Bell Street is the Globe Public House, named after the stone globe located at Durlston Country Park. The Globe PH serves food lunchtime and evenings (except Tuesdays), and is children and dog friendly. Opposite the Globe PH is the Golden Bengal Indian restaurant offering eat in and takeaway menus. Turning left at the bottom of Bell Street on the corner of Jubilee Road is the fish and chip shop.
There are a number of restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from in Swanage town centre and more information is available at the cottage, along with some of our personal recommendations.
At the bottom of Bell Street there is a Costcutters with Post Office which has a good butchers counter and selection of fresh produce, freshly baked bread and other basic supplies. In the centre of Swanage is a large Co-op supermarket and a Somerfields. There is a butcher near the library, selling locally reared produce, and a farmers' market every Tuesday throughout the Summer in the main beach car park.
Full details of local amenities are provided at the cottage.
Plum Tree Cottage offers plenty of indoor living space in which to relax, with a separate lounge, dining room and conservatory.
The Lounge is full of charm and character with exposed beams, stone walls and a multi-fuel burning stove set in a Purbeck stone fireplace. During the winter months we provide logs and fuel so you can cosy up in front of the fire.
There is plenty of comfortable seating, a Digital TV, DVD/CD player and a selection of DVDs, games and books for your enjoyment.
The folding doors separating the lounge and conservatory can be opened to combine both rooms to make a large, sunny area, overlooking the pretty garden and patio area.
