This fabulous Grade II listed adjoining property dating from 1728 was originally a farmhouse then an inn/saddlers and harness makers before being given its exotic name in 1812 by a seaman reputed to have sailed with Captain James Cook to the Hawaiian Islands where palm trees were first spotted. Now a very comfortable holiday conversion it is punctuated with echoes of its rich history and tales of smugglers and derring do. Its many unusual features include a wishing well masquerading as an impressive dining table. Just a mile or so from Elham (voted 'Kent Village of the Year' in 2011) Palm Tree Lodge affords breathtaking views of the Elham Valley in the heart of the East Kent Downs. There are walks from the door and it is just a 10-minute stroll to the Elham Valley Vineyard with tea room. Canterbury, Folkestone, Dover Castle and Hythe are all within a short drive or make the most of public transport - Palm Tree Lodge is a designated bus stop. Shop and pub 1.5 miles.
