Mount Folly Enlosures Project
The Mount Folly Enclosures Project is an archaeological investigation of Iron Age and Romano-British occupation of a coastal settlement on the farm. The project started with a small two-week investigation in 2003. Since that time it has grown to be one of the largest volunteer excavations in the south of England.
The investigation concentrates on a group of articulated enclosures that was first recognised in aerial reconnaissance by Frances Griffith, Devon County Archaeologist, in 1989. Pot sherds recovered from the enclosure ditches during our excavations date the complex to the later Iron Age - Romano-British period.
Excavation and survey at Mount Folly will take place from Friday 6 July - Sunday 19 August 2012. An open day is planned on 29th July 2012, 2pm-4pm.
