Milford Haven Holiday Golf and Accommodation Guide

Introduction

The town of Milford Haven takes its name from the waterway which has always been an important harbour. Founded in the late 18th Century by a group of Quaker whalers from Nantucket, who had emigrated to America to escape religious persecution. They designed the town on a grid pattern of streets that runs parallel to the waterway, which still exists today.

The view over the water from the Cleddau Bridge is magnificent. It is a toll bridge for cars but is free for pedestrians. For sustenance try The Old Ferry Inn, below the bridge, the food is excellent as well as inexpensive and the pub carries a range of real ales.
The town centre looks a bit tired, as many of the available funds look to have been spent on the Marina.
The Marina is new and hosts a number of bars and restaurants as well as a bowling alley and the town museum.
The museum is home to many interesting artefacts and photographs of the fishing trade as well as the Quaker history of the town.
