This wonderfully secluded holiday cottage North Wales sits in an elevated position about 7 miles outside Bala. Tucked away on the edge of a forest overlooking the mountains of southern Snowdonia, this magical stone cottage offers the perfect base for families looking to get away from it all.
An entrance hall leads you through into a traditional country cottage. A lazy maid hangs over a real log fire immediately creating a fairytale feel to the room. (The maid is brilliant for drying socks and pants but it does tend to spoil the image. So I’ll leave that decision to you.) Wooden fitted units and a traditional table and chairs finish of the room nicely.
From the kitchen we walk into the spacious lounge next door. A second and very impressive log burner is flanked by two comfortable sofas. A golden wooden floor is complemented by the original oak ceiling beams. A patio door to the right ensures the room is bright and airy.
Back to the entrance hall and another door leads into a surprisingly spacious ground floor bathroom complete with full sized bath. The bathroom upstairs is a real treat in this secluded holiday cottage however. This, even larger bathroom, houses a lovely freestanding bath and white bathroom suit. The quirky addition of some French doors means guests can step directly outside onto an elevated balcony. From here, whilst dressed in your bathrobe, you can enjoy the glorious views this secluded holiday cottage North Wales has to offer. With only the odd nosey sheep to worry about.
3 Bedrooms upstairs. Two doubles and a twin. You do have to walk through one of the doubles to get to the twin room. So you’ll have to make sure your party is happy with that, but no problem for families I would have thought.
Another quick word of caution. The track leading up to the cottage is steep and not tarmacked and only really suitable for 4 wheel drive vehicles.
As mentioned Llanerch a Baed is a wonderfully secluded holiday cottage North Wales but civilisation isn’t too far away of course. There’s a traditional village pub and a Michelin star restaurant just a couple of miles away and the market town of Bala is about 7 miles away. Bala has long been established as a Mecca for adventure activities. Llyn Tegid or Bala lake is popular with sailors, windsurfers and fishermen alike. White water rafting and kayaking is available at the world renowned Tryweryn white water centre. And the town itself is a wonderful mix of traditional welsh culture and contemporary shops and caffes.
Sitting as it does on the Eastern edge of the National Park, this part of Snowdonia has the natural benefit of being easily accessible from the English road network. Although saying that, costal towns such as Aberdyfi to the west and Snowdon itself to the North West are only an hours drive away.

"We had a lovely few days at this cottage, it was exactly what we wanted. Thanks to Lou and John for clearing the snow from the track up to the cottage! The views are wonderful, the walks around the cottage are fantastic and the peace and quiet was bliss. There was plenty of snow for our Easter break which made the walks around the cottage like a Winter Wonderland. Plenty of wood for the woodburners which kept us warm. We have three young children who loved adventuring around the fields, seeing the new born lambs and watching out for wildlife. We hadn’t been to this part of the UK before – the drives through the nearby mountains are spectacular. A really nice cottage in a great location, we hope to be back."
