Gardener’s cottage was built in the 1820's by slate mine workers in tradtional stone and slate. It is situated at the base of the Moelwyn Mountains and has undergone complete refurbishment.
The Cottage Location Gardener’s cottage is No 200 Manod Road LL41 4AR at the top end of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The Moelwyn Mountain range is directly behind and a row of similar cottages sits to the front with the tail ends of the slate mines and Manod Mountains behind them.
Gardeners Cottage is dog friendly and wheelchair accessible.
The cottage boasts an impressive original Inglenook fireplace with a log/coal burning stove. A starter pack of logs and instructions are provided. Wood and coal can be bought at the local Mcoll's shop, open until 22.00 hours most evenings.
The cottage is centrally heated except the upstairs bedroom and living room and £20 worth of electric is included per week, which has proved adequate for 4 people.
We welcome well behaved dogs, there are throws provided in case they jump onto the furniture when you're back's turned, but insist they are not allowed into the bedrooms as other guests who don't have pets may have allergies.
There are two double bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs to allow wheelchair access. Both have double beds, are light and airy and vintage themed. Fresh Linen and towels are provided in the price.
The upstairs bedroom is currently heated by electric radiators, and faces the cottages and Manod mountains.
The downstairs bedroom is centrally heated with uninterupted views across the well kept garden, of the Moelwyn mountains. A wheelchair ramp is stored outside by the French doors to allow wheelchair access to the garden and patio.
A garden table, 4 chairs and BBQ are provided for alfresco dining on the private patio.
There is a wheelchair ramp to the side of the cottage for access to the back door, and wheelchair access through the garden from the parking bay.
The cottage has Broadband WI-Fi, colour TV, Ipod stereo, radio, plenty of reading material and a selection of DVD's. It has private parking for 2 cars accessed by a slip road behind the cottage.
The kitchen is equipped with the latest induction hob, a kettle, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, iron, toaster and a wide range of utencils, pots and pans. Tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, salt and pepper, cleaning basics, bins liners, brush and dish cloth are provided in the cost.
Wine, breakfast cereal, fresh local bread and UHT cartons of milk is provided for guests.
The ground floor bathroom allows for wheelchair access. There are discreet assistance rails for the toilet which are folded away when not in use.
The double ended bath is deep sided with an integral shower. A bath seat s available on request.
Children are welcome at their parents risk but must be supervised at all times whilst on the property. It's not practical to fit a full fireguard round the logburner and the outer casing of the log burner gets extrememly hot.
A portable stairgate, vacuum, mop, bucket and ironing board can be found in the cupboard under the stairs.
