Eye area guide - Suffolk
Sitting in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, Eye is a small, peaceful, agricultural market town offering a wealth of historic character.
Eye boasts a C15th church, which is one of the finest in the country and sits alongside many other historic buildings including a timbered guildhall and a ruined Castle and keep originally dating back to Norman times.
If you stroll along the Eye town trail you will come across plenty of opportunity to browse the delightful shops Eye has to offer. There are numerous, pleasant, little eating houses or why not quench your thirst at the lovely White Lion Inn.
Being off the beaten track the picturesque river Dove, that was once of some importance as it was navigable from the sea, now offers a tranquil area for a summer walk with ample opportunity to picnic amongst heavenly banks of beautiful wildflowers. Sitting adjacent to the River Dove are the water meadows of Pennings Local Nature Reserve which is home to a large number of marsh birds and other wildlife.
