The Derwent Gallery, in Grindleford in the Hope Valley, has been selling fine art paintings of the Derbyshire Peak District for nearly 20 years, attracting artists and visitors from a wide area and always have a diversity of painting styles and media revealing the moors, edges and villages, in traditional and more contemporary styles.

Original Paintings

All of the landscape artists at the gallery have an affection for this area, walking or living in the Peaks and Dales.  The work of Kristan Baggaley reveals wild weathered landscapes of the Dark Peak.  Often using the landscape simply as a setting for the weather, his mixed media paintings reflect only a fleeting moment in the continually changing relationship between earth and sky.  Paintings in acrylic and oils by David Stowe reveal a more leisurely landscape where his beautifully crafted scenes show detailed views of river valley walks and distant views of Monsal Dale landscapes.

Acrylic paintings on canvas are very popular and work by Richard Clare and Gareth Buxton show striking swathes of enriching colour that reveal the height and depth of the Derbyshire hills and paintings by Pauline Rignall and Richard Barrett the sweeping skies across the landscape.

Photography of the local area by Robin Ashmore and Paul Griffiths and limited edition prints and greetings cards.
