Summary:

North Yorkshire is the largest county in England covering 8000 square kilometers of land. North Yorkshire is divided into seven districts Harrogate, Richmond, Hambleton, Craven, Selby, Scarborough and Ryedale. North Yorkshire includes the whole of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the majority of the Yorkshire Dales National Park so as you can imagine the countryside is truly spectacular. The beautiful North Yorkshire heritage coastline also has many seaside towns like Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay in its catchment adding to the areas varying landscape with rugged cliffs and sandy beaches.

History
Many famous television series have been influenced by the Moors and the Dales, for example ‘Heartbeat’ which was filmed at Goathland in the North York Moors and the Stories of ‘James Herriot’ which were based on the real life vet who lived and worked around Thirsk and the Yorkshire Dales.

Whitby has famous Dracula connections surrounding it and there are many other cultural attractions too such as the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the ruined abbey right on the cliff tops.
