Summary:
Covering large parts of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire the Cotswolds is the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England and was thus designated in 1966.

The perfect holiday destination?
The Cotswolds AONB encompasses an area covering 790 square miles (2,038 sq kms) and is crossed by ancient trails such as the the Cotswold Way and the Thames Path, both of which are now designated National Trails providing endless hours of recreation and miles of top class walking and cycling. With the cities of Bath and Oxford in its midst it's not surprising that the Cotswolds has long been a favourite destination of all who visit and a few days holiday comes highly recommended.
