Description of property

This charming property is located in the grounds of the Heaves Estate and set in the rural outskirts of historic Kendal. With open-plan living on the second floor, spacious and well appointed accommodation throughout and two king-size double bedrooms, this holiday home is a wonderful example of a traditional Lake District stone-built semi-detached cottage. Positioned in 10 acres of formal gardens, woodland and parkland the property is well placed for all local amenities and activities that the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District has to offer.

Gas central heating with additional heating from gas woodburning-effect stove in sitting room. Gas oven & hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, colour TV, DVD, radio/CD player, WiFi etc. Small library of books/games/DVDs. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot, highchair and stairgate available. Off road parking for two cars. Gravelled garden area and patio with garden furniture and BBQ, use of hotel grounds. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 1 mile, hotel 5 mins walk. Note: Due to large amount of stairs, this property is not suitable for the less mobile.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the 'Winter' period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the 'Low' and 'Mid' periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

'Last Minute Breaks' (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'LOW', 'MID', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

Property feedback

Coachman's Cottage is almost next door to Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, providing a good start to the viewing holiday. The cottage itself was comfortably spacious enough for four persons. The kitchen was one of the best equipped I have ever seen for a holiday cottage in this range. Heaves Hotel, on which grounds this cottage is located, offers a reasonable menu in their restaurant, which is good for those not-so-hot on the full self-catering lark. The location was good for travelling over Cumbria generally and I think we saw more than ever before on a break into this area. Even the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland are within reasonable reach. And not forgetting the closeby Sizergh Farm Shop which offers (among other things) good breakfasts, which we indulged in before journeying home at the holiday end. I would be happy to return to this place and recommend it to others.
