This former Coach House to the Buckley Estate has been recently renovated to provide self catering accommodation within the beautiful Dyfi Valley. A fascinating collection of furniture and antiques gives this property a unique and delightful sense of character.
It’s a very spacious property. The lounge is huge and comfortably houses a big leather 3 piece suit as well as a wide flat screen tv and a traditional log burner. The equally spacious kitchen houses a long pine table and provides a great family space at meal times.
Three bedrooms upstairs plus a through room which can easily accommodate an extra child if required. There’s a large double bedroom to the right. The king sized bed is flanked with tasteful antique bedroom furniture. The through room, which has a nice sofa bed, leads to two more bedrooms, a twin room and a family room. The twin room is an Aladdin’s cave of toys and playthings while the family room houses a beautiful antique mahogany double bed, a single bed and accompanying mahogany wardrobe and dressing table. The central bathroom is smaller but there is a second wc on the ground floor as well.
Location
The coach house is in the small hamlet of Millyn on the outskirts of Dinas Mawddwy. The cottage has a small private garden overlooking the Dyfi valley and the river below. The famous Brigands Inn is just a short walk away, Y Llew Coch or the The Red Lion is a little further in Dinas Mawddwy itself.
Anyone familiar with this part of southern Snowdonia will know how spectacular the landscape is in this area. And the Coach House is in a prime position to enjoy it looking as it does, across the Dyfi valley. ‘A walkers paradise’ is the standard phrase reeled out, but it’s undoubtedly true in this instance. Less crowded than the slopes of Snowdon, the mountains in this part of the national park provide a real opportunity to explore the true wild Wales.
The seaside resorts of Abedyfi and Barmouth are both about 30mins away by car. About 20 mins away by car, the market towns of Dolgellau and Machynlleth are steeped in Welsh history. The lakes at Bala and LLyn Vyrnwy are other popular destinations
Corris, another nearby village, has the world renowned ‘Centre for Alternative Technology’ as well as a small craft village and ‘King Arthurs Labyrinth’, an underground tour certain to capture a child’s imagination. Other traditional attractions such as fishing, narrow gauge railways and craft centers are all accessible from the cottage.
More adventurous activities have certainly gained a firm foothold in this area. As well as white water rafting and mountaineering, there are numerous challenging mountain biking trails in the area. But anyone with a love of the great outdoors is sure to enjoy a stay in this lovely cottage.

We had a wonderful time, and our grandson thought the spa bath had been put in just for his playtime before bedtime! "We stayed at the Coach House for a wonderful 4 days which turned out not to be long enough at all. We went with my parents and younger cousin and our young son (9 months) which proves this property suited all ages. Everyone had a great time. We were always finding new things to look at in the cottage as they have a fabulous collection of toys, books, ornaments from days gone by. There is a lovely friendly pub literally steps away at the end of the road. They were very accomodating and friendly considering our little boy thought he could take over the place. The cottage had everything for all of our needs. Dioni had sorted everything out for us perfectly. The owner has thought of everything. We have already recommended this to our friends and family and we will definitely be returning to this cottage mansion! We also took our 2 little westie dogs and I think they enjoyed the holiday most of all! Definitely wish we had of booked more days there now. Thoroughly enjoyed by all!"
