Traditional, dog friendly, children friendly pub next to Tring reservoirs at Startops End, a small hamlet next to Marsworth near Tring on the Hertfordshire Buckinghamshire border, a few minutes from the A41 and approximately 30 minutes from the M1.

The Anglers Retreat offers a really warm welcome and an excellent selection of real ales.Listed in the “Good Beer Guide” and by CAMRA’s Mid-Chiltern Branch, awarding us their “Most Improved Pub”. In 2006 we got our first mention in “The Good Pub Food Guide” and this was followed by our listing in the “Real Ale Guide” - quite a collection of recommendations!   We keep a good selection of wines and beers including locally brewed ales and hold two beer festivals every year, in April and October.
 
There is great value home cooked food, choose from an extensive menu including a special childrens menu. We try, wherever possible, to use fresh local produce, from seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables, local fish and game (duck, rabbit, trout, pheasant, partridge, etc.), to some of our homemade speciality dishes. 

Outside there is a child friendly garden with plenty of seating and lovely, flower filled borders. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome, whether in the bar, conservatory, or in the garden. Children and adults alike will find the aviary and pets corner interesting and fun.

ACCOMMODATION – bed & breakfast accommodation is available, seperate from the pub, comprising a double, twin and single rooms all with en-suite facilities.  Please note, that whilst we allow dogs in the garden and the bar area of the pub, we do not allow dogs in our rooms.

The Anglers Retreat is situated just a few yards from Tring reservoirs and the adjacent Grand Union canal and is a great location for walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and anglers alike and all are more than welcome at The Anglers Retreat.

Local attractions include the Natural History Museum at Tring, a fascinating exploration of the collection of Lionel Walter Rothschild. It is home to the world-class research and collections of the Natural History Museum's Bird Group.
